TIL my grocery store's app has a 'manager's special' map for meat

I was trying to cut our weekly food bill and noticed the store's own app has a section that shows exactly which discounted meat is on clearance and where it's located in the cooler. I tried it last Tuesday and got a $12 pack of chicken thighs for $4.50 because it was close to the sell-by date. Does anyone else use their store's app for this, or is there a better trick for finding those deals?

My local store only marks that stuff down on Wednesday mornings. You found a map that actually shows the real time location in the cooler? That is a game changer they are hiding from us.

Yeah it really is frustrating how inconsistent the markdown schedules are. My store used to do it randomly until they finally posted a small sign saying Tuesday afternoons, but even that changed eventually. Having a live map showing where the discounted stuff actually sits would be incredible, especially since employees don't always put it in the same spot. We shouldn't have to hunt around like it's a treasure hunt just to get a decent deal on perishables. I'm with you that this feels like something they purposely keep quiet about.

Honestly, that seems like a lot of work just to save a few bucks. I just freeze the regular stuff I buy, and @grayt46 has a point about the timing being tricky anyway. It's clever, but not exactly life changing.
