I was folding towels next to him and he told me he stopped breaking bills at the counter because the change always disappeared into snacks. It got me thinking about how my mom used envelopes for gas money back in the 90s, and now I'm trying a small cash jar for laundry and parking only. Does setting aside one little cash pile like that actually hold up for you, or does it just turn into a slush fund like mine did?
