Appreciation post: the index page finally clicked for me after 2 years
I kept skipping the index in my bullet journal because it felt like extra work. I was all about just flipping pages and hoping I remembered where stuff was. Then last month I missed a doctor's appointment because I couldn't find the health log I started in March. That was it. I spent 20 minutes one Sunday numbering all 100 pages and filling out the index. Now I actually use it for everything, even my grocery list is marked. The trick was writing down the topic first then adding the page number after, not the other way around. Has anyone else resisted the index forever and then had a random moment where it just made sense?

Missed a dentist checkup myself back in May for the same reason, buried a cleaning schedule somewhere in week 23 and never saw it again. That whole writing the page number after thing is the real unlock, I always did it backwards and gave up in frustration. It's funny how one bad miss like that is all it takes to flip a switch after years of stubbornness. Glad you found your groove with it, that feeling of actually trusting your own system is pretty great.
