Heads up about those cheap dot grid notebooks from the big box store

Honestly, I just found out the paper weight is only 70gsm, which I learned from a review on a stationery blog. Tbh, that's way too thin and my fountain pen bleeds right through. Anyone have a good, affordable notebook that can handle real ink?

My penmanship is the real crime here.

Penmanship is the real crime" is too real. I bought one of those notebooks for a bullet journal phase. My medium nib turned a simple to-do list into a Rorschach test on the next three pages. It looked like I was planning a murder, not grocery shopping. I switched back to my old composition book. The paper is thicker and costs less.

Rorschach test on the next three pages" is the perfect way to put it. I had the same thing happen with a fancy notebook someone gave me. My handwriting is bad enough without the ink bleeding through and making everything look like a crime scene. The ghosting alone makes my lists unreadable. There's no point in a nice notebook if the paper can't handle the pen. I'm with you on the basic composition books, they just work.
