Just found out my markers expire and I'm honestly annoyed

I was cleaning out my desk drawer last night and noticed my favorite set of Tombow brush pens from 2019 had a faint ink smell and drier tips. Turns out water-based markers have a shelf life of about 3 to 5 years, even if you store them flat like the package says. Nobody tells you this when you drop $60 on a set. Has anyone else had markers suddenly go bad on them, or am I the last person to learn this? I'm wondering if there's a way to revive them or if I should just switch to fineliners for my daily logs.

I found a 2015 Sakura set in my mom's garage that still works perfectly, go figure.
