My friend called my bullet journal a 'colorful to-do list' and it made me rethink things.

She looked at my 2019 journal, which was just rapid logging with a different highlighter for each task type. She said, 'It's neat, but where's the you in it?' I realized I was just tracking tasks, not my life. Now I leave a full page each month for a simple collage of receipts, ticket stubs, or a doodle. It feels more like a record. Anyone else shift from pure productivity to something more personal?

But what if you just need to get stuff done? I saw bell.evan talking about archives, but sometimes a to-do list is just a tool, not a diary.

Read a great article about turning planners into personal archives.
