My habit tracker backfired when I made it too pretty

Honestly, I spent like 3 hours last month designing a fancy monthly tracker with washi tape and hand-drawn icons. Then I got so worried about messing up the layout that I stopped actually logging my habits for 10 days straight. I realized the aesthetic was the problem, not the system, so I switched to a plain grid on a sticky note in my bujo. Now I fill it in during my morning coffee and it takes 30 seconds. Has anyone else ditched the fancy spreads for something ugly but functional?

Ever tried just masking tape and a Sharpie? Works way better when you can't see how bad it looks.
