My index decided to rearrange itself and I'm actually grateful

About 3 weeks ago my bullet journal fell off my desk during a late night work session. Pages scattered everywhere, coffee got involved, and my index page basically became a mixed up mess of half crossed out page numbers. I spent way too long trying to fix it and finally just said forget it, I'll redo it. So I made a new index but this time I set it up with flexible page ranges instead of exact numbers. Like instead of writing "p. 12 - Grocery List" I wrote "p. 10-15 - Meal planning stuff". That way when I add a random recipe page in the middle, it doesn't make everything else wrong. Honestly the old system was so rigid I was editing it every single day. Now I only touch the index once a week on Sunday. Has anyone else had to rebuild their index from scratch and found a better way to do it?
