My kid's messy art table made me change my weekly spread
I was at the local library's craft hour last Saturday, and my 5 year old's glitter glue disaster got all over my open journal. Instead of getting mad, I saw how the colors mixed on my monthly log and it looked cool. Has anyone else found a happy accident that changed how they set up a page?

That glitter story reminds me of something that happened at my cousin's wedding. The photographer's kid grabbed a Sharpie and drew a mustache on a photo of the grandparents. Everyone was mad but the bride kept it and put it in the album because it looked hilarious next to the serious portrait. @spencerw72 might hate this, but sometimes accidental marks end up telling a better story than the original plan. I still have a notebook where my nephew dripped ketchup on and it looks like a little sunset.

Spilled coffee on my weekly to-do list once. The brown stain looked like a weird little mountain range, so I just drew a tiny forest around it. Now I leave a blank corner on purpose for "coffee art." My cat also walked across a wet ink page, left perfect paw prints. Traced them, turned it into a border. Messes make the best custom decorations.

My old boss in Seattle had a rule about keeping work papers spotless, and it drove me crazy. I get what you mean, @owens.river, about finding something cool in a mess, but for me a coffee stain just ruins the page. I need my lists to be clean so I can actually focus on what's written there. If my cat walked on it, I'd just have to start the whole thing over on a fresh sheet.
