My sister-in-law called my bullet journal a 'to-do list with extra steps'
We were having coffee and she said, 'You spend an hour drawing boxes just to write 'buy milk'?' It hit different because I realized I was focusing more on the art than actually getting things done. Has anyone else had to scale back the decoration to make their journal actually work?

Ever just use a cheap notebook for a while?

Yeah, I was the guy who always bought the expensive ones. Figured the paper quality mattered more. But I grabbed a basic one at the store last month and just filled it up. Honestly, the cheap one got used more because I wasn't worried about messing it up with a dumb idea. Makes you wonder why we spend so much on something meant to be scribbled in, right?

Whoa wait, Paul is actually saying he just scribbled in a basic notebook and it worked BETTER? That's wild to me because I have three shelves of fancy journals with like 200 dollar washi tape collections... But yeah, I feel that pain about the cheap ones. I got a pocket Moleskine from a flea market for two bucks and that thing got more use in a month than any of my pretty ones ever did. It's almost like the less we invest in the setup, the more we actually use the damn thing. Maybe your brother's wife had a point even if she said it like a jerk.
