My sister insisted I needed a $40 fountain pen to start journaling
I tried it for a month and it just made me anxious about messing up pages. Has anyone else found that simpler tools actually work better for them?

Remember buying a fancy leather-bound journal that felt too nice to use. Ended up writing my grocery lists on the back of junk mail for a year. Sometimes the cheap spiral notebook by the phone gets more real thoughts than the perfect setup ever did. What did you switch back to using?

Totally get that. Bought a fancy notebook once and it just sat there looking pretty. Felt like I had to write something important, so I never did. Now I just grab whatever's around, like the back of school permission slips or a napkin. Seanperry is right, it's not about the pen. My best ideas end up on the back of a receipt.
