Picked a washi tape collection over a new pen, instantly regretted it

Last month I had $30 burning a hole in my pocket. My options were a new fountain pen I've been eyeing for 6 weeks or a 20 pack of washi tapes from the craft store. I went with the tapes because I thought my layouts needed more color. Three days later I realized 15 of them are basically the same pastel stripe pattern, just slightly different widths. Now my weekly spread looks like a striped mess and my pen still writes fine but I keep thinking about that pen. Has anyone else made a stationary purchase that just tanked your whole setup? What did you do to fix it?

Ugh, that's the classic "I'll have options" trap, but the real issue is you bought for the wrong brain. You were thinking about future you who wants variety, but present you just wants that smooth pen feel and a clean layout. What helped me was forcing myself to do a little "tape inventory" and actually cutting the dupes into smaller strips, then using them as page flags or envelope seals instead of trying to make them work in a spread. Now the pen is just sitting in my cart until my next allowance, and honestly the tape stash finally feels less like a mistake and more like a DIY resource, if that makes sense.
