PSA: That minimalist layout trend nearly wrecked my weekly spread

My friend Sarah swore up and down that using only one pen color and no boxes would make my bujo "breathe" better. I tried it for 3 weeks straight starting in February and missed 4 appointments because the entries all blurred together. The lack of structure made everything look like a messy list instead of a tracker. I had to go back with highlighters and rewrite the whole thing to salvage it. Has anyone else had a trending layout backfire like this?

i'm convinced half the minimalist hype is just people wanting to feel superior about doing less work lol. it's like that whole 'capsule wardrobe' thing where you feel like you're supposed to be free but you just end up wearing the same sad shirt every day. structure exists for a reason, man.

3 t-shirts and 2 pairs of jeans is what my "capsule wardrobe" turned into. I tried to be one of those people who feels free with less stuff but I just ended up doing laundry way more often and wearing the same outfit to every single event. Now I have 15 shirts and 5 pairs of pants and I still only wear the same 3 combos anyway, so I don't know what I was worried about.
