Appreciation post: the bulletin board at my laundromat saved my week

My week was going terrible - car broke down Monday, lost a package on my route Tuesday. But Wednesday I saw a flyer on the laundromat board for a guy who fixes older cars for cheap, and he got my engine running for $150. Has anyone else found a solid local service on a random board like that?

Those boards are just as likely to have scams or half-assed work though. Plenty of people out there charging $150 and making your engine blow up a week later.

Totally feel you on this. It's amazing how something so random can turn your whole week around. I found a guy who does upholstery repair through a community board at my grocery store. He fixed a rip in my couch for real cheap and did a better job than the fancy shops I called. Sometimes the best services are the ones just posted up with a phone number and a handwritten note. Glad you got your car sorted without breaking the bank. Those little wins feel huge when everything else is going sideways.
