Can we talk about the 3 foot stack of missing cat posters I saw at the laundromat last week

I walked into Suds & Duds on Elm Street and someone had taped up maybe 30 flyers for a tabby named Mochi, all with the same photo and a plea that looked 2 months old. Have you ever seen a single missing pet post actually result in a return or do they just become wall decor?

Guess not every missing pet story has a happy ending. Mochi's owner probably spent weeks printing those, taping them up, hoping someone would call. But here's something nobody talks about - sometimes those posters get taken down by people who see a cat that kinda looks like Mochi and figure they'll just claim the reward, even if it's not the right cat. I've heard of folks collecting flyers off bulletin boards and lying about a sighting just to get some cash. Makes you wonder if Mochi is still out there or if someone already gave up and tossed the rest of the stack in the trash.

Yeah I used to think those missing pet posters were just a waste of time honestly. Figured if a cat ran off it was gone for good and the owners just needed to accept it. But your comment about people taking down posters to scam the reward never even crossed my mind until now. That's messed up but I bet it happens way more than we know. Some folks will do anything for a quick buck even if it means breaking some poor owner's heart all over again. I guess I never thought about it that deep before but you really made me see it different.
