Found a handwritten note on a board outside the library about a lost cat

I was walking past the main library downtown yesterday and saw a small, yellow index card pinned up. It said, 'Lost: Gray tabby named Muffin, last seen near 5th and Elm. She's shy but loves tuna.' Someone had drawn a little heart next to the phone number. It made me stop and really look at all the other notes on that board... flyers for guitar lessons, a used bike for sale, a community garden meeting. It's a whole little world of stories right there. Has anyone else found a lost pet notice that stuck with them?

Honestly, those boards just bum me out. Every single one is a small tragedy or a dead end. That cat is probably long gone, and now someone's phone number is just out there for anyone. It feels less like a world of stories and more like a graveyard for lost things and failed plans.

Yeah, I read a thing once about how these old school boards actually have a decent success rate for lost pets compared to just online posts. Something about hyper local visibility. That little heart on the note gets me, it's pure hope.
