Saw a flyer for a 'lost cat' that was actually a possum, and everyone at the coffee shop board thought it was hilarious. I didn't.

Honestly that would bug me too (like, a lot). It's not really funny when someone's worried about their pet. That flyer space is for actual missing animals, not jokes. Kind of feels like wasting people's time and concern for a cheap laugh.

Right? I saw one last week for a "missing" garden gnome with a full reward listed. It just makes you feel dumb for even looking, like you got tricked into caring. Takes the spot of a real dog or cat that someone is actually crying over.

@leor37 that's exactly how I felt when I saw a flyer for a "missing" inflatable Santa last December, complete with a $50 reward. Like, really? Someone actually printed that and took the time to tape it up everywhere. Makes you wonder if people just do this to see how many concerned phone calls they can get.
