Spotted a handwritten note on the corkboard at the laundromat offering a free 'mystery box' to anyone who could solve a riddle, and it took me three evenings of puzzling to finally crack it.
The riddle was 'I have cities, but no houses; I have mountains, but no trees; I have water, but no fish. What am I?' and the answer was a map, which I found out led to a box of old National Geographic magazines left by the note-writer's moving truck.

Honestly, just writing everything down on paper helped me solve a tough one like that.

You mentioning "writing everything down on paper" is something I always brushed off. I was all about typing notes on my laptop, thinking it was faster. But forcing myself to actually scribble out a problem step-by-step on a notepad made the connections so much clearer for me too.

Right there with you. I was the same way, thought typing was the future and paper was just for old folks. But man, there's something about physically dragging a pen across a page that makes your brain slow down and actually process the info. I've caught myself solving problems just by scribbling them out that I was totally stuck on staring at a screen. It almost feels like your hand is forcing your brain to connect dots it was skipping over when you just typed.
