That $50 'handyman special' bulletin board that fell apart after one use
I picked up a corkboard from a grocery store board for 50 bucks because the frame looked solid, but the cork crumbled into dust when I put the first pushpin in it. Has anyone else fallen for a cheap board that looked good from across the parking lot but turned out to be junk?

That line about looking good from across the parking lot got me. I once bought a "vintage" wooden recipe box at a flea market for 20 bucks, all excited because it had that perfect farmhouse look. Got it home and opened it up and a family of silverfish had basically turned the inside into their own private condo. Never even got to put a single recipe card in there before I had to toss it in the trash.
