Burnt garlic bread in the oven or just ordered pizza, I picked pizza and now I feel like a quitter
Last Tuesday I had a frozen garlic bread in the oven at 425 and I walked away to answer a text from my mom. Ten minutes later the smoke alarm in my apartment on 8th street was screaming and the bread was basically charcoal on top. I stood there staring at the black slab on the tray and had two choices: scrape the burnt part off and eat the sad middle, or just give up and order a large pepperoni from the place down the block. I picked the pizza, obviously, and it showed up 22 minutes later for $19 with tip. Felt great for about five minutes until I looked at the garlic bread still sitting on the stove like a little burnt tombstone. My roommate came home and asked why the whole place smelled like a campfire and I had to admit I lost a fight with a $3 loaf of bread. Anyone else ever just abandon the dish entirely and order out, or do you guys tough it out and eat the salvageable parts?
