I was a cast iron skeptic until I burned a $40 nonstick pan in 3 months
I used to think cast iron was overhyped and heavy for no reason. But after ruining a fancy nonstick skillet in just 3 months because I left it on high heat too long, I caved and bought a $20 Lodge pan at Target. The first time I made eggs in it I messed up and had to scrape them off, but after seasoning it twice it's actually nonstick now. Plus I can throw it in the oven without worrying about melting handles or toxic fumes. Has anyone else switched teams after destroying a 'premium' frying pan?

Burned three nonstick pans in six months before I learned my lesson. My wife still laughs at me for scraping eggs off a brand new skillet. Now I just pretend the carbon build up adds flavor.
