PSA: quit scraping burnt toast, just run it under the tap for 5 seconds
My toaster has one setting and that setting is charcoal. Last Tuesday I torched a whole loaf of rye and almost threw the pan out. My grandma in Toledo told me to hold the burnt side under cold water for about 5 seconds and then scrape it with a butter knife. The black flakes come right off and the toast actually tastes fine, no bitter ash taste at all. Everyone says toss it and start over, but that wastes bread. Has anyone tried this on a gas stove scorch instead of a toaster?
