Shoutout to the sheet pan that survived my worst cooking week in years
Last week was a disaster in my kitchen, three straight nights of ruined dinners. Monday I burned a batch of chocolate chip cookies so bad the smoke alarm went off twice and my neighbor in apt 4B knocked to check on me. Wednesday I tried to broil chicken thighs and set off the alarm again, this time the thighs came out black on top and raw in the middle. Friday was the worst, I walked away from garlic bread under the broiler for maybe 90 seconds and came back to what looked like charcoal briquettes. Here is the thing though, my one cheap aluminum sheet pan from a garage sale has been through all of this and it still works fine, no warping, no rust, nothing. I just soak it, scrub it with a green pad, and it is ready for the next disaster. So my tip is skip the fancy nonstick stuff and just buy a plain aluminum pan, it takes a beating and keeps going. Anyone else got a piece of cookware that has outlasted every mistake they throw at it?
