That time my air fryer caught fire at my mom's place in Cleveland

Tbh I thought air fryers were foolproof until last Thanksgiving. My mom asked me to crisp up some leftover rolls and I set it to 400 without checking the crumb tray underneath. Smoke poured out and the fire alarm went off while my aunt started yelling about the turkey being dry. The unit melted a little on the bottom and we had to toss it in the backyard. Now I clean the tray every single use and bought a cheap timer sticker for the side. Has anyone else had a close call with those things or am I just the unlucky one?
