Vent: my microwave turntable motor died and I spent 45 minutes trying to fix it
So last week my microwave started making this grinding noise and the plate would not spin. I watched like 6 YouTube videos and took the whole thing apart before I realized the little plastic coupler was cracked, a $4 part. Took me 45 minutes and two trips to Ace Hardware in Bellevue when I could have just ordered the piece online. Now I'm wondering if it's even worth fixing small appliances or if I should just toss it and buy new. What's your cutoff for repair vs replace on kitchen stuff?

Tbh the "$4 part" thing is what gets you every time. My buddy had the same deal with his coffee maker, some tiny rubber gasket cracked and it was spraying water everywhere. He spent a whole Sunday watching videos and driving to three stores hunting for the right one, then gave up and ordered it online for like six bucks with shipping. Fixed it in ten minutes when it showed up. He told me the real cost was his weekend, not the part.
