That "boxing up landfill" line from @ray_park is so spot on. Something I never see people talk about is how much water is in all that cardboard. Seriously, making cardboard uses a ton of water, and then we just throw it out wet. So we're not just shipping trash, we're literally shipping heavy, wet trash that takes up more space and weighs more in the trucks. The whole system feels even dumber when you realize that.
