My butter bot meme got misread at my cousin's party and it was a mess

Last Saturday in Portland, I showed a group my newest edit where the butter bot says 'what is my purpose' and then the toaster replies 'you feed me crumbs, that's it'. Half the room laughed, but my cousin's girlfriend took it super seriously and started explaining existential philosophy for 20 minutes. I tried to jump in with the punchline, but she kept going, and by then the meme's timing was dead. Has anyone else had a butter bot edit that got overthought by someone who missed the joke entirely?

A buddy of mine spent all night fixing their butter bot remix for a group chat, only to have this one guy explain how it was a metaphor for late stage capitalism. The dude went on for so long that my friend just packed up the laptop and left. Sometimes people see a deep essay where there's just a dumb, funny joke.
