Picked the $8 template over the $80 one, got way more laughs

Been making butter robot memes for about 3 months now, mostly for my own amusement. Last Tuesday I was torn between buying a fancy animated template pack for 80 bucks or just tweaking a free still frame from season 3. I went with the free one and added my own caption about the robot asking if existential dread counts as butter. Over 200 upvotes on the subreddit, way more than anything I made before. Has anyone else found that simpler tools beat the pricey stuff for these?
