The butter robot's 'what is my purpose' line was actually improvised? Found the source

I was digging through the season 2 commentary track last night, the one on the blu ray, and Justin Roiland says the whole 'pass the butter' exchange was ad libbed on the first take. He kept giggling and the animators had to build the scene around his rambling. Apparently the original script just said 'robot asks a question,' no specific dialogue. The fact that it became the most quoted line from the whole show is wild to me. Did anyone else know this or am I late to this lore? I checked the wiki after and it confirms it with a timestamp from the commentary, around the 14 minute mark. Makes me want to rewatch the whole episode again with fresh ears.
