My 20 year old cast iron skillet just survived a house move, the rental did not
Last month we moved from a second floor apartment in Portland to a ground floor place. The movers dropped a cardboard box of kitchen stuff and the lid of my old enamel pot shattered into like 30 pieces. But the cast iron skillet that my grandma gave me in 2004, I wrapped it in a bath towel and it landed on the concrete driveway without a scratch. That pot was from Target and cost me $40 in 2019, the skillet has seen two decades of camping trips and weekly cornbread. Anyone else ever watch a cheap newer thing fail while the old standby just shrugs it off?
