A client told me my dovetails looked 'too perfect' and I changed my whole approach

Guy in Portland last month was admiring a drawer I built and said it looked like a machine made it. I took that as a compliment at first. Then he said he wanted something that looked like a person actually worked on it. So I stopped sanding my tails to glass smooth and left tiny tool marks on purpose. Now I charge extra for that rustic look. Has anyone else gotten feedback that flipped your style sideways?
