A client told me my drawer boxes were 'too perfect' and it made them look cheap

They said the laser-cut dovetails looked mass-produced, so now I hand-cut the first and last joint on each box for about 5 minutes extra. Anyone else get feedback that made you add a little 'imperfection' on purpose?

My friend's cabinet shop just uses a CNC and nobody has ever complained.

That line about nobody complaining... it's like how most people don't miss a handwritten letter if they get a clear email. The tech just gets the job done right and on time. We've gotten used to that kind of reliable, perfect output in so many things now.

Oh man, that's wild. Guess we're paying extra to make things look worse now.
