Ditched my old router jig for a homemade template system
For years I used that cheap Ryobi router jig for drawer fronts and it always left little burn marks on the edges. About 3 months ago I made my own template out of 1/4 inch hardboard and a flush trim bit from Home Depot. Now I cut 20 drawer fronts in 90 minutes with no sanding needed. Has anyone else moved away from store-bought jigs for repetitive work?

Yeah the Ryobi jig is exactly what pushed me to make my own. That burn mark thing drove me nuts, especially on poplar where it shows up worse. I used 1/4 plywood instead of hardboard and glued a strip of sandpaper to the bottom of the template to keep it from sliding around. Works way better than any clamping system I tried before.
