Finished my 100th drawer box this morning and it felt good

I was cleaning up the shop and counted the little hash marks I keep on a board in the corner. Turns out I just cut the dados for my 100th drawer box since I started my own shop two years ago. The first dozen were a mess, with gaps you could slide a dime into. I remember one for a kitchen in Bellingham where I had to redo the whole set three times. This morning's box, for a simple bathroom vanity, went together smooth. All the joints were tight, no filler needed. It's a small thing, but seeing that number made me feel like I'm getting somewhere. Anyone else keep a simple count of a basic task to track progress?

That part about the first dozen being a mess really hits home. I used to think counting small wins was silly, but seeing that kind of proof you're getting better changes your mind. It turns a bad day at the bench into just another mark on the way to the next hundred.

Counting just makes you focus on the wrong thing.
