Hit 500 custom drawer boxes made with my new jig setup

I used to think hand-cutting each one was the only way to get a perfect fit, but after building a dedicated jig for my track saw in the shop, I hit that number last month. It cut my time per box down from 45 minutes to about 15, and the consistency is way better. What other shop tasks have you guys sped up with a simple jig?

So you're telling me I've been wasting hours for no reason? That jig sounds like a game changer.

Honestly, the number of hours I've lost to doing things the hard way is kind of embarrassing (we're talking days of my life, gone). That jig trick felt like finding a secret level in a video game, you know? It's one of those things that seems so obvious after you see it. My past self is definitely face-palming right now.

Ha, "secret level in a video game" is the perfect way to put it. I've been there too, and the trick is to start thinking about what three things you always do the same way, then spend ten minutes figuring out a jig for just one of them. It pays you back in time spent real quick after that.
