Is it just me or does dovetail waste sometimes look better than the joint

I used to think anyone who left their dovetail waste blocks on the bench was just messy. Then I watched a guy in Portland pin them to the wall as shop art, weird but kinda cool. But I still think cutting them super clean and uniform is a waste of time, nobody sees the inside of a drawer. The other side is that precision there shows your overall care, my mentor used to say the hidden parts are where you prove yourself. So which is it, are you team 'no one will ever know' or team 'every cut matters'? I'm leaning back toward messy myself but I want to hear what you all do.
