Put $200 into a CNC router bit set that was supposed to save time

I bought a 20-pack of carbide router bits off a discount tool site last month, thinking I'd use them for all my raised panel doors. Three bits shattered on the first test cuts, and the edge quality on the rest was so rough I had to hand-sand everything anyway. Has anyone found a decent budget brand for router bits that actually holds up, or am I better off just buying one good bit at a time?

Ah man, I've been there with those cheap multi-packs. Honestly, you're way better off just buying one good bit at a time. I started doing that after a similar blowout, and something like a Whiteside or Freud bit will cut clean for way longer than you'd expect, even if it stings paying $30 for one instead of $200 for twenty. Just pick the size you use the most and build up your set over a few months.

Learned that lesson one time with a router bit and a chunk of oak.
