Serious question, did anyone else learn they were cutting dovetails backwards from a guy at a yard sale?

Did anyone else learn they were cutting dovetails backwards" is the most yard sale sentence I have ever read. A guy at a yard sale teaching you woodworking is like getting dental advice from the guy bagging your groceries. Honestly though, those old timers at yard sales always know something, even if the lesson comes out sideways. Mine tried to sell me a "vintage" saw with no teeth and told me it was for fine work.
