Talked to a trim carpenter in Nashville and he made me rethink my hinge prep
I was on a job last Tuesday and this older guy, Dave, was cutting in some fancy prehung doors for a remodel. He said he stops using his router for hinge mortises and just uses a sharp chisel and a marking gauge, even on production work. I always thought that was slower, but he showed me it's about 15 minutes faster per door once you get the hang of it. Anyone else ditched the power tools for hand tools on certain steps just to keep the feel of the wood?
