Tried a cheap featherboard for the table saw, got a surprise I didn't expect
Last week I picked up a $14 featherboard from a big box store, figured it would be fine for light duty work. Set it up on my saw to rip some 3/4 ply for a bathroom vanity build, and it worked great for about six cuts. Then the little teeth started chattering and it pushed the board sideways, nearly ruined a panel and my fingers are still attached but it was close. Turns out the plastic flexed under pressure, not enough hold for anything over 4 feet long. I learned that cheap featherboards are fine for small trim but not for sheet goods, so I'm going back to my old shop-made wooden one. Has anyone else had a cheap accessory fail in a scary way, or do you have a featherboard setup that actually holds? Take this with a grain of salt, but I won't trust that plastic again for big rips.
