Tried bonding walnut with CA glue, now my fingers are the workpiece
I was out of regular glue last Thursday and thought super glue would hold a miter joint fine, but it wicks everywhere and I basically welded my thumb to a clamp in 4 seconds. My wife had to pour acetone on me while I was flapping around the shop. Anyone else have a go-to emergency adhesive that doesn't turn you into a sculpture?

Read somewhere that hide glue is actually the old school go-to for stuff like this, it grabs fast but doesn't turn into a permanent hand decoration. I've had my share of CA glue moments though, last time I glued a veneer patch and ended up with the chisel stuck to my palm, took a good chunk of skin off when I yanked it free. Acetone is the real hero here, but honestly I keep a little bottle of it on the bench now, right next to the glue, so I don't have to do the flapping dance anymore. For small joints like that, maybe try a two-part epoxy instead, it gives you a few minutes to position things before it sets, and it doesn't wick like crazy. Plus fingers stay mostly separate from the workpiece, which is a nice bonus.
