Vent: Client said my finish looked like it was done in a garage
Had a customer last month in Denver who wasn't happy with my sprayed lacquer. He said it looked dusty and amateur. I was using my usual setup in the shop with a standard booth filter. Turns out I wasn't changing the filter often enough. Switched to a finer filter and started doing a tack cloth wipe right before spraying. Huge difference in clarity. Anyone else had to rework their finishing process after a bad review?

Tack cloth changed everything for me too after a client pointed out nibs in my clear coat on a kitchen job. Now I wipe down twice before every spray session.

Whoa I gotta disagree a bit here @carter.jennifer! I found tack cloth left a weird oily film on my wood before paint, made adhesion worse on a few test pieces. Now I just blow everything off with compressed air and wipe with a damp microfiber, works way better for me and no dust nibs at all.
