Was dead set against buying a track saw, but now I'm kind of a believer after my last job

I mean, I always thought they were overpriced and just a fancy circular saw. But last month I had to do a kitchen with 30+ feet of melamine cabinets, and the customer wanted zero chipout. Tried my circular saw with a good blade and a straight edge, still got some tearout. Borrowed a buddy's Makita track saw, spent $200 on it basically, and it cut clean as glass. Maybe I'm late to the party, but has anyone else caved and actually been happy they did?

Wait, didn't you used to think track saws were just gimmicky too? I was exactly the same way, big time circular saw loyalist. Then I had to cut some thick plywood for a built-in, and my straight edge slip just a tiny bit and ruined the whole sheet. That was a pricey mistake. Borrowed a track saw for the next job, slapped on a decent blade and it was night and day, no drifting at all. Sometimes you just gotta try a tool to see why people are hyped on it, even if it stings the wallet a little.

Haha damn Karen you're gonna call me out like that? I mean yeah that's fair, I was totally that guy who thought they were overpriced until I watched a buddy's track saw glide through some 8/4 walnut like it was balsa wood and I about fell over.
