Watched a guy at a trade show fix a warped panel with a wet towel and a heat gun

At the AWFS show in Vegas last year, this older cabinetmaker was demoing how he deals with bowed plywood edges. He laid a damp towel over the curve, hit it with a heat gun for maybe 2 minutes, and clamped it flat overnight. I tried it on a 60 inch shelf that had a 1/4 inch belly, worked way better than any veneer trick I knew. Anybody else got weird shop floor fixes that just keep working?

Damp towel and heat gun" sounds like a laundry tip, not a fix.
