A quick chat with an old electrician changed how I pull cable now
Was running Cat6 in a new build last week and an old sparky came up and asked why I was fighting the bundle. He said try pulling from the middle of the spool instead of the end, it cuts down on twist and tangles. I gave it a shot on the next run and it saved me like 20 minutes of wrestling. Anyone else get random advice from other trades that actually works?

Ain't it funny how the old guys ALWAYS have a trick we never thought of? That middle-of-the-spool tip just saved my entire weekend.

My uncle Stan (the one who can fix anything with baling wire and a lighter) taught me that trick about five years ago. I swear he could start a campfire in a hurricane if he had to. I rolled my eyes at first, you know, because who takes advice from the guy who still uses a flip phone? But then I tried it on a spool of 20lb test that was giving me grief, and man, it worked like magic. I guess that's why he's been fishing since before my dad was born, and I'm still learning the basics.
