Finally got a clean pull through a packed apartment riser in Chicago

Had a job last week with a 4-inch riser that was completely full of old coax and phone lines. Instead of fighting it for hours, I tried using a fiberglass push rod with a small hook I bent myself. It snagged the new line on the first try and pulled it through in maybe 20 minutes. I always thought those rods were just for short runs, but they saved my whole day. Anyone have a different trick for a tight riser that's worked for you?

Ever tried that and just poked yourself in the face?

Been there more times than I'd care to admit. You get distracted for half a second and bam, right in the eye. It's the worst kind of surprise. Makes you just want to put the thing down for a while. My depth perception is not always my friend.
