Had a line snap on me yesterday up on a ladder in Decatur

I was doing a standard install on a two story house, running the coax from the pole to the side of the house. Got about halfway up the ladder when the tension let go and the line whipped back at me. Missed my face by maybe a foot. I checked the clamp on the pole and it was corroded bad, should have spotted it sooner. Now I'm double checking every anchor point before I climb. Anyone else had a close call like that?

Yikes, that's terrifying. I used to be one of those guys who'd just grab the ladder and go, never really thinking about the pole connections. But after I had a similar thing happen with a guy wire that snapped and swung around like a weedwhacker, I started checking every single anchor point before I even set the ladder up. You can't be too careful with that stuff, it's the small things that get you.

Nah, honestly I think people overthink this stuff. Ladder work's always had some risk and checking every single anchor point is just gonna slow you down for something that's already pretty rare. A little corrosion on a clamp isn't gonna kill you if you're keeping your head on a swivel and your ladder set up right.
