My boss told me to just use the standard coax crimper on all fittings, even the compression ones.
I ignored him for months until a job in Springfield where a whole apartment block had signal issues from my sloppy crimps. Had to redo every single connector with the proper tool. Anyone else have a stubborn habit that cost them a day's work?

Springfield, Illinois or Missouri? Either way, an entire apartment block is a brutal way to learn that lesson. Using a crimper on compression fittings is just asking for trouble, they're not made for that at all. I'm shocked your boss even suggested it, that's like using a hammer on a screw.

Was your boss just clueless or trying to cut corners on purpose?

My old foreman tried that once on a job in Cincinnati. We spent the next three days fixing leaks in every single unit.
