Old foreman Bob back in 2009 told me I was stripping coax too fast and leaving nicks in the dielectric, so I slowed down and started using a compression tool instead of my side cutters.

That one piece of advice cut my callbacks for signal loss by about half, has anyone else had a simple tip from an old timer that actually stuck with you?

Appreciate the view @lily511 but I actually see it a little different. Some of us just need to make our own mistakes before the old timer's advice really clicks. I wasted plenty of cable myself back in the day before I finally listened to a crusty electrician who told me to stop yanking on the fish tape.

Passed down some wisdom from an old timer myself, only to watch the new guy completely ignore it and then wonder why his splices kept failing. Had a crusty plumber once tell me "measure twice, cut once" while I was trying to rush through a job and I laughed it off until I wasted a whole spool of cable. Guess the lesson there is that some people, including me apparently, have to learn things the hard way lmao.
