PSA: a 78 year old lady in Oak Park made me redo her cable drop twice because of one question
She watched me fish the line through her attic and asked why I wasn't stapling it every 18 inches like the last guy did in 2019. I explained that staples can crush the coax and tank the signal, so I use screw clips instead, but she pulled out the old installer's card and wanted the same setup. I ran the drop her way, tested it, and got 6 dB lower on the modem than my first run, so I redid it with clips and she apologized for pushing back. Made me wonder how many service calls I've rolled on that were just crushed cable from chasing speed over signal. Any of you keep a cheap meter in the van just to show customers the numbers?
